Hello, fellow comic fans! Are you getting into the spooky Halloween spirit this October and looking for the perfect film to scratch the scary comic style itch?

Notes before getting into it:

This article is from the perspective of a UK user with access to streaming platforms like Netflix, Amazon Prime, Disney Plus and Now TV.

These services tend to offer 30 day trial periods such as Amazon Prime Video and Netflix.

To watch some of these titles, you may need the use of a VPN to access content only available in other countries.

Brightburn (2019)

What if a child from another world crash-landed on Earth, but instead of becoming a hero to mankind, he proved to be something far more sinister?

Think evil child superman… This film was written by the brother and cousin of the famous James Gunn of Marvel and DC success. Brian and Mark Gunn took the all American story about a boy from an alien world who becomes a protector to our own and really flipped the script.

If you enjoy super graphic horror, you are in for a treat.

Chronicle (2012)

Three high school friends gain superpowers after making an incredible discovery underground. Soon they find their lives spinning out of control and their bond tested as they embrace their darker sides.

Michael B. Jordan, Dane DeHaan and Alex Russell play three teenagers who uncover an otherworldly secret.

The film is directed in an autobiographical way as Andrew (DeHaan) records the events. As the boys develop powers, their true characters start to come through the cracks.

The reason it is on this list as you may have guessed… Something goes wrong. This is a truly spectacular film that will leave you questioning just how much powers can change people.

Written and directed by Shin’ya Tsukamoto, who also appears in the film, this movie combines superhumans with dark and dreary ghost stories to bring you something that will not leave your brain anytime soon.
