Ever since the news dropped that Black Panther 2 will go ahead even after the death of lead actor, Chadwick Boseman. Fans have been curious to know who the next protector of Wakanda will be.

The Next Black Panther?

Hollywood source Daniel Richtman recently posted some news on his Patreon account about the future of the Black Panther series.

He wrote: “I can confirm Shuri played by Letitia Wright is the lead and Namor is the villain.”

However, new information is now emerging that Wright’s rise to lead actress will be short-lived. At the end of Black Panther: Wakanda Forever, Shuri will hand over the Black Panther position to another character.

This is a request from Letitia Wright, who does not want to become the new Black Panther in the MCU permanently. It is unknown who will play a role in the future, but many fans expect Nakia (Lupita Nyong’o) to be appointed as his successor.

Shuri’s assumption of the role made sense as she became Black Panther in the comics as well. Now, without reference to a template, Marvel is likely to consider who is best suited for the future of the MCU, but they can’t go far wrong with talent such as Oscar winner Lupita Nyong’o available to take the reins.

The Villain

We have also had confirmation that the villain in Black Panther: Wakanda Forever will be Namor.

Now, if you aren’t big on following the comics, you might be wondering, who is Namor? Put simply, Namor is often referred to as the Aquaman of Marvel.

The character was born in the deep sea in Atlantis. He is a Sub-Mariner, an anti-hero who fights to defend his home. The character is well known for his short temper and is often labeled as Marvel’s first anti-hero.

The character will be played by Tenoch Huerta, best known for his role in Narcos: Mexico.

Filming is due to wrap this month and the film is set for a late 2022 release.

Chadwick Boseman will sorely be missed, and we are excited about this sequel and hope it can pay homage to not only the character he played but the incredible film franchise he brought to life.
