With the recent news of a Daredevil Disney+ show being in the works, we’re going to explore who’s involved, how swapping streaming services may affect the show, and if it will be a follow-up or a reboot.

Read on for all the details.

Who’s on board?

Marvel Studios has been hard at work getting a team assembled to bring this show to life and we do have some details about who will be involved both in front of and behind the camera.

Variety Recently reported that Matt Corman and Chris Ord are set to write and produce the Disney+ series, best known for their work on Covert Affairs or my go-to, the 90’s cartoon Extreme Dinosaurs, both of which are taking their first steps into the superhero genre.

At this point, we also know Charlie Cox and Vincent D’Onofrio will be returning to the roles they portrayed excellently in the Netflix show.

But up to now, we haven’t heard any confirmation of the supporting cast or other Defenders popping up in the new show.

Netflix to Disney+

Daredevil was a brutally violent and mature show. There’s no doubt about that. When the original series moved over to the Disney streaming service, surprisingly, they faced no censorship.

This bodes well for the new series, however, will Disney take the risk of creating their own age-restricted superhero show set in the MCU? In 2020, it was rumoured that Kevin Feige had spoken about his ideas on Daredevil in the MCU and would like to keep its mature tone.

And early last year, Feige stated in an interview with Deadline;

“Other than Deadpool, which has already established itself as a certain genre and certain rating, that we already said we would not mess with when we started working on Deadpool-which we have-other than that, we haven’t encountered a story or a storyline or a character’s journey that a PG-13, or the tone, or the rating we’ve been using up to this point has prevented us. We haven’t been held back by [PG-13]. If we ever are, then certainly there can be a discussion that can be had now that there are other [outlets]. But that just hasn’t been the case.”

This again proves promising to the Disney+ iteration with Feige being open to the idea of not age-restricting properties to tell the stories they want to.

Sequel or Reboot?

Last December, we had the reveal of Charlie Cox’s Matt Murdock in Spider-man: No Way Home and Vincent D’Onofrio’s Kingpin in Hawkeye, confirming both characters exist in the MCU.

However, what’s been kept vague is whether or not these are the same Daredevil and Wilson Fisk from the Netflix show.

If the first 3 seasons of the show are being tied into the main MCU, then where are Foggy and Karen? Where is Vanessa and why is Wilson out of jail? And will we be seeing Bullseye again anytime soon? If the Disney+ series is a reboot, is Matt operating as Daredevil? Has he met the Kingpin in this universe yet?

The Hollywood reporter has suggested the series will continue from where the Netflix show left off according to their sources. With reports also stating Cox and D’Onofrio will appear in next year’s Echo on Disney+, we are sure to find out soon.

So what do you think of the new creative team? Do you think the Man Without Fear will be toned down for the Disney+ series? And are you hoping for a continuation or a reboot going forward? Let us know on our socials linked below.
