Nov 10, 2021 | News, Uncategorized

This Friday, Disney Plus will have a day of celebration, new announcements, and new content across all Disney brands.

We dive into what is expected to be announced and how you can follow events on the day.

Special Offer

In a build-up to the actual Disney Plus day on Friday, Disney has enlisted all of their brands and assets in running a series of promotions, events, and even content premieres.

This week, the most significant promotion so far is that only new and eligible returning subscribers can get their first month of Disney Plus for $1.99 in the US and select countries, with the service returning to $7.99 a month after the first month is over.

On the day

There is a lot to unpack regarding content premiers for the streaming platform on November 12th, let alone what is being speculated for announcements on the day.

However, the service so far has announced that on Disney Plus day there will be a slew of new additions, such as ‘The Making of Shang-Chi and The Legend of The Ten Rings’, a documentary about the making of the Marvel movie, and a ‘Marvel Studios Legends: Hawkeye’ series that will visit the characters best moments from the Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU) in preparation for the upcoming Disney Plus series on Hawkeye.

These are joining the already announced additions of the actual Shang-Chi and The Legend of The Ten Rings movie, amongst others.

Coming up

Now to what most people are looking forward to for Disney Plus day, the expected announcements.

Last year, despite not much being anticipated for announcements on Disney Plus day, everyone was pleasantly surprised as a huge plan was revealed for the majority of the MCU’s future plans over the coming year’s with Marvel’s Phase 4 slate.

This has led to high expectations for this year’s Disney Plus day to reveal the Marvel Phase 5 slate and the remainder of Phase 4 receiving announcements, trailers and news on casting.

In the rumour mills is the possibility of first-look trailers for several shows and movies in the MCU.

The first to be expected during Disney Plus day is that of Ms Marvel, an already confirmed Disney Plus TV miniseries that will explore the character of Kamala Khan and was due to be released late this year, however, it has been pushed back to (hopefully early) 2022.

The series is going to lead into the later The Marvels movie expected to come out in early 2023, and will star Iman Vellani.

The next series with high expectations for a trailer is Moon Knight.

A rich and highly favoured character in Marvel’s comics the anti-hero, restored by the Egyptian god, Konshu, will finally get a proper adaptation into the MCU within this series.

Marc Spector, or Moon Knight as he’s known, will be played by Star War’s Poe Dameron, Oscar Isaac, with the villain of the series being played by Ethan Hawke, who has been announced as part of the cast.

She-Hulk is another series expected to be announced for Disney Plus day; with little known about the series so far, it makes sense for Disney to make an announcement for the series on Disney Plus day.

So far, the only confirmed casting is Tatiana Maslany as Bruce Banner’s lawyer cousin Jennifer Walters in the live-action series and the highly anticipated return of Mark Ruffalo as Banner/Hulk.

There will undoubtedly be many more announcements during Disney Plus day, and the rumours are flying around as we quickly approach Friday the 12th.

Where and how to follow the announcements?

Disney is taking a different approach to DC Fandome and instead of streaming live over YouTube or Twitch, the whole day will see announcements breaking on their official media channels like Twitter and TikTok starting at 2pm GMT for fans in the UK and Ireland.

In addition to the ongoing announcements on social media, Disney Plus subscribers will be treated to special content and trailers on the day, so grab that discount while you can if you haven’t already signed up!
